I got a new camera this week and went out yesterday for a shoot to try it out. It wasn’t the best light or the most interesting subject matter, but I tried anyway. Well, it turns out that the dial is not on correctly so none of the settings correspond to what is pictured on the dial. I didn’t realize this until I had already taken a number of photos on “color sketch” setting when I thought I had it on shutter-priority. Whoops. Yet somehow I really like how some of them came out. Here’s a sample.

I meant to go hiking today, but ended up wanting to do things at home before going to dinner and a concert tonight. Instead of actually hiking, I’ll post a picture from a past hike. Nice leaves in Susquehannock State Park, in Lancaster County PA.

I kid you not, I walked by this house again a week later and it was under renovation, complete with closed sidewalk and completely redone second floor. Francisville is an odd place. It currently appears run down, but house prices are going up and up, and there’s new construction everywhere. A mixed bag. Without much in the way of shopping, grocery stores, amenities, or great public transit, though, it’s not my bag.

I adore this house, though. It has such an abandoned charm.

When is it going to be spring again? As I type this ice falls from the sky and crusty snow piles on the sidewalk. Well, it’s the fourth of March, and this photo is from May 2014. It’s from a walk home from OCF Cafe in Fairmount to my apartment in Spring Garden, down Wallace St. A lovely walk and clearly a lovely day as well.

In honor of the delicious (vegan) miso ramen I just ate with Derek W. when he came to visit and get 懐かしい over our time in Japan in 2003-2004, here’s a picture of said ramen from last year. This is from Philadelphia’s Terakawa Ramen, which is at 9th and Race Sts.

Here’s one of my very favorites. I almost never take pictures of people, but I was rude and did it this day because the scene was so perfect. This is in 8th Street Station on the Market-Frankford Line in Philadelphia.

I of course was trying to take a picture of what’s beyond the window. In New York City on the Staten Island Ferry.

I love taking pictures of Broad Street Line subway stations when I’m waiting around for the train. Here’s one from Walnut-Locust in center city Philadelphia.

One of my favorites, taken with my humble phone outside the Spring Gardens Community Garden (between 18th and 19th on Wallace) in Philadelphia.
